Sprite is a large, long, level and very strong
doe. She’s very correct
in general appearance, and has a very capacious well attached mammary
system with a strong medial. As
a Junior Yearling she was 1st place at the 1997 ADGA National
Show in Harrisburg, PA. When
she freshened for the first time she came in with mastitis, and it took
a couple of years to get it entirely cleared up. While once we got that taken care of, she easily finished her
GCH, the value of this doe truly is in her offspring.
There have been 9 daughters - 6 of which remain
in our herd. One lives with
Ray & Dene Engeman in Oregon- SG Kastdemur’s Surge 2*M EX90 4-0
285 2537 80, and the other, Kastdemur’s Hot Chocolate 2*M was sold in
the 2002 Spotlight Sale for $3500 to Olive Guck of Minnesota, and is now
deceased, but did produce over 2,000 lbs. as a yearling milker. Two of Sprite’s daughters (SGCH Kastdemur’s Seven-Up 2*M
EX91, now deceased & GCH Kastdemur’s Mountain Dew 2*M EX91) have
become ADGA Reserve National Champions, five have won individual classes
at the National Show (Seven-Up, Mountain Dew,
Citra, Survivor & most
recently Shasta) and they have also won Produce of Dam honors at both
the local level and at National Shows for Sprite many times over. Four times in a row, from 2001 to 2004, her produce was 1st
at the National Show...until this year, when her granddaughters won the
class (with Sprite’s daughters 2nd place) for her daughter Citra. Of Sprite’s
daughters, 6 have appraised Excellent, and 2 were 89 as yearling milkers
this past year (both with Excellent mammaries). Only one was never appraised. All have extremely strong production records as well as you can
see throughout this website.
Her sons have also done well - Inside Information
produced GCH Kastdemur’s Chocolat 2*M EX 91 who was 2004 ADGA National
LaMancha Best Udder when she stood 2nd pl./1st udder 3 yr.
Old. Other sons include Kastdemur’s Fresca & Kastdemur’s Live Wire EX90 who sired one of the 2005 ADGA
Spotlight Sale doelings – Heart-Mt.-Carter-Kids Mystere’ who sold
for $1500.00.
We think that Sprite is an amazing LaMancha, due
to many factors, including her amazing spirit & gusto for life, in
addition to her ability to produce offspring that are even better than
she is herself...her grandchildren are making names for themselves as
well now ...
