Terra’s dam died while producing this lovely
doeling, we had a view of a beautiful ADGA Jr. Champion that had
actually turned out quite beautifully, only to lose her during the
kidding process. It was heartbreaking. Terravista’s strength in dairy character, length,
levelness, angularity and breed character set her apart from the rest! She
didn’t disappoint when she freshened, and has a beautiful mammary
system too! She appraised
VG89 (EVEE) as a first freshening two year old, finished her
Championship, and proved once again that a National Reserve Junior
Champion can and will turn out! Terra
did this despite having quite a difficult year – she tried very hard
to kill herself overeating on grain that was stored “sort of” near
her pen, didn’t make enough milk at Nationals, tried to cut her foot
off at the beginning of the year, just wasn’t herself at State
Fair. She did pull herself together to look terrific as the year ended,
appraised well and finished her GCH! As a 2nd freshening 3 year
old this doe appraised EX92 (EEVE) and was 3rd with 2nd udder in her
class at the National Show. Terra moves kind of slow, chews kind
of slow, gets confused if too many does run past her to get on the milk
stand, veerrryy sloooowwwwly gets off of the stand.....you can always
tell when she's a bit "confused & stressed" when you see
her "puffing" her cheeks.....It's just her way of showing
emotion!
Unfortunately, in May of 2007 we lost Terra just a week after
kidding with triplets. It was a VERY hard loss to us and we will
always miss our beautiful girl.
